Future Pathways Visit the Alan Shearer Centre

ree

At Future Pathways, we’re always looking for ways to broaden the experiences of our young people and explore the very best support and facilities available across the North East. This week, our team had the privilege of visiting the Alan Shearer Centre in Newcastle and what an inspiring visit it was.

The Alan Shearer Centre is a specialist recreational, sensory and social facility designed for people with complex disabilities and additional needs. From the moment we walked in, we were struck by the warm welcome and the range of opportunities available for individuals and families.

The Centre offers:

State-of-the-art sensory rooms designed to relax, engage and stimulate.

A hydrotherapy pool, which provides therapeutic benefits in a safe, supportive setting.

Creative play areas, including indoor and outdoor spaces to encourage freedom, fun and confidence-building.

For us at Future Pathways, it was hugely valuable to see first-hand how the Centre prioritises inclusion, accessibility and positive experiences. These values mirror our own, ensuring every young person we support feels safe, valued and able to thrive.

We believe the Alan Shearer Centre is an excellent option for the families of our service users. Whether it’s accessing the sensory rooms, enjoying the recreational facilities, or considering respite opportunities, parents can be confident that their children will be supported in a safe, specialist environment.

Our Future Pathways staff left the visit with a renewed sense of inspiration. Collaborations and visits like this remind us that there is a strong network across the North East dedicated to supporting young people with additional needs.

We’d encourage any of our parents who might be interested to find out more about the Alan Shearer Centre, it could be a fantastic resource to complement the work we do together at Future Pathways.
